Yiannos Kouyoumdjian finished 64th in the giant slalom on Saturday at the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, completing both runs on the Stelvio course in Bormio with a combined time of 2:52.11.
Cypriot Olympic skier Andrea Loizidou did not finish her first run in the women’s slalom at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics on Wednesday, ending her participation at the Games in challenging conditions at the Tofane alpine skiing centre.
The bid to win a medal is more elusive for some than others. In fact, 84 of the 122 teams have never won a medal in the Winter Olympics. The United States won its first medal in the 1924 Chamonix Olympics, the first winter games held in modern history, along with seven other teams, including Canada and Great Britain.
